Dear Friends,
I am very glad to welcome on board of TRANSMIT adventure. In particular, I would like to greet our 11 young researchers recruited within the project Consortium. 9 of our ESRs are women. Achieving gender equality in scientific research remains a challenge for policy-makers and the scientific community. For this reason, the TRANSMIT Consortium ensured gender balance in the project decision-making positions and in the ESRs recruitment. In order to accomplish lasting equality, science has to secure the interest and collaboration of highly qualified women and men by offering predictable academic careers, attractive working places and job conditions that make their lives livable.
As Project Coordinator and as a woman, I am sure that investing in education is a pivotal instrument to reduce gender gap in science field.
Therefore, I would like to thank the European Commission that strongly believed in our project’s idea to train a young generation of scientists in the appreciation and dissection of the multifaceted aspects of metabolism in cancer.
